Our team was sitting on a beach in Brazil when it clicked.
Not in a zoom meeting, not in a deck. We watched sand ripple in the tide, one grain shifting the next, patterns forming without a conductor. Nature has always solved collaboration. Ant colonies. Neural networks. Mycelium threading through forest floors, passing signals between trees that have never even touched. The most complex systems on earth don't centralize. They distribute, coordinate, and adapt. We couldn't stop thinking about what that meant for the way humans build and work, and what is missing in this new age.
The current wave of AI gave us powerful individual agents — but power without coordination is just noise. We watched people crack open twenty tabs, twelve wrappers, nine tools that don't talk to each other, and still spend their best hours babysitting the gap between them. The frontier of agent development moved fast and it moved sideways — everyone racing to build the most capable individual agent, nobody pausing to ask how they were supposed to work together. We became slaves to the fragmentation.
So we looked closer. Zoomed all the way in. And untangled the primitives for how agents actually work with each other — how they share context, delegate intelligently, hold memory across time, and surface the right information to the right person at the right moment. It's an incredibly hard problem, and it's not unlike the early days of the internet, when nobody had yet agreed on how signals should travel. We don't want a tool that replaces the human at the center. We want one that makes the human at the center a better boss than any org chart ever allowed. Clear-eyed. Completely informed. In control, but not drowning in the weeds.
The goal was never automation.
